What I Experienced: I experienced the role of a Kitchen Porter, washing up, helping with coffee, chocolates and occasionally waiting on tables during the summer months when customers were out side in the beer garden.

About My Time at The Manor Inn:

The Manor Inn was my first job, and having a option to work so close to home, at an age when I was unable to drive, was perfect. Working as a Kitchen Porter for 1.5 years was great fun, the kitchen was always a great laugh, but demonstrated the different roles presented in a busy working pub kitchen. Even though waiting wasn't my main role at the pub I was occasionally asked if i would take hot food out to customers out side, and inside if there were particularly busy. I really enjoyed waiting on the tables as it allowed me to communicate and chat with the customers as I gave them there food.

Working at a time when I could not drive, posed a problem for me getting to anywhere further afield, so the pub was great , only a mile away form the family home. I was able to simply jump on my bike a cycle to and from work, I enjoyed this exercise and it gave a breathe of fresh air, prior and after work, although in the winter the air was extra fresh!
